PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Royal Naval Hospital Bighi was a major hospital during the 19th and 20th century and was knows as the ‘Nurse of the Mediterranean’ since it took care for all the nursing and casualties that happen in the Mediterranean. The hospital was closed indefinitely in 1970.  Since 2010 half of the hospital is the head office of Heritage Malta. Between 2014 and 2016, the other half of the hospital went through an extensive renovation. The revamped Bighi now is home to Villa Bighi and the renowned Esplora Science Centre.
